Bullfrogs, I couldn't hear them
I wasn't listening at first:
The drumbeats of my Heartmind
Her tiny, ever ticking gearworks
Crowd out most earthsongs, even strong ones
Like this impromptu orchestra
The bullfrogs scream until dawn
In the wake of the first real storm
In the parched New Year.
